It only takes one person...
Hello! Happy Hump Day!! :)
It's mid-week and by now you're probably ready for Friday. Trust me, you're not alone. You're amongst the millions of people who are burnt out by their 8-5 and need a simple getaway. But no worries...it's almost over :)
Most of us come in contact with hundreds of people daily, especially those who work in the service industry. These occupations require special type of people...the type who can deal with the general public. Unfortunately, some of us in these positions aren't necessarily the best to come in contact with. You know what I mean...the type who seems to be having a bad day EVERYDAY. Is this you?
One thing to keep in mind: You directly effect everyone you come in contact with. I know the whole pay if forward thing has been going on for quite some time, but I can't stop stressing the importance of this concept. It doesn't have to be monetary. Kind gestures or a simple hello and smile can really brighten up a persons day.
Take time to listen to strangers. Don't brush people off... you never know. You might be that person that brings light to a dark time in their lives. Some people don't have a soul to talk to and you listening could mean the world to them.
Refrain from putting negative thoughts in the minds of those around you. There is too much negativity in the world...do you really want to be one of the contributors?
You never know what people are going through...you might be the person to turn their situation around just by being you. ;-) Below is a link about a bagger named Johnny. Watch it...I promise you'll be inspired!! It made me tear up a bit the first time I saw it (but I'm a "G" LOL). Enjoy!!

Finding Joy
Often times life can throw us curve balls. Everything seems to be going great one minute then something happens that changes your outlook on life. When this happens, remember it's only temporary. No matter how painful the situation or how impossible it seems to get through, know you CAN and you WILL. Never accept defeat...

It's getting HOT!!!
It's getting hotter outside now that the weather has stopped flip flopping *crossing fingers* which means you'll be using your HVAC unit regularly. We all know what that means...HIGH ENERGY BILLS :(
Here are a few tips to help keep those electricty bills to a minimum this summer:
Happy saving :)
Here are a few tips to help keep those electricty bills to a minimum this summer:
- Set your thermostat at 78 degrees or above. For each degree temperature above 78, you will use about 10% less energy (and vice versa for temperatures below 78)
- Use a programmable thermostat to help regulate tempertures within your home when you are away. If you don't have a programmable thermostat, increase the temperature while you are away and put it back down to your desired setting when you get back
- Check and change air filters in your return vents regularly (monthly or for 30 days of use)
- Make sure your duct work is properly sealed and free of tears
- Check your water heater year round. Leaks or malfunctions could cause water AND electricity/gas bills to increase
- Contact your local electric/gas company to see if they offer free home energy audits. These audits will help you understand and educate you about energy usage and habits specific to your home
- Have your HVAC unit serviced annually by a professional. This can help extend the life of your unit and ensure optimal efficiency
- When going out of town for vacations, set your water heater to vacation mode (for gas water heaters) or turn it off at the breaker (for electric water heaters). This will keep it from cycling on and off while you are away
Happy saving :)
