It only takes one person...
Hello! Happy Hump Day!! :)
It's mid-week and by now you're probably ready for Friday. Trust me, you're not alone. You're amongst the millions of people who are burnt out by their 8-5 and need a simple getaway. But no worries...it's almost over :)
Most of us come in contact with hundreds of people daily, especially those who work in the service industry. These occupations require special type of people...the type who can deal with the general public. Unfortunately, some of us in these positions aren't necessarily the best to come in contact with. You know what I mean...the type who seems to be having a bad day EVERYDAY. Is this you?
One thing to keep in mind: You directly effect everyone you come in contact with. I know the whole pay if forward thing has been going on for quite some time, but I can't stop stressing the importance of this concept. It doesn't have to be monetary. Kind gestures or a simple hello and smile can really brighten up a persons day.
Take time to listen to strangers. Don't brush people off... you never know. You might be that person that brings light to a dark time in their lives. Some people don't have a soul to talk to and you listening could mean the world to them.
Refrain from putting negative thoughts in the minds of those around you. There is too much negativity in the world...do you really want to be one of the contributors?
You never know what people are going through...you might be the person to turn their situation around just by being you. ;-) Below is a link about a bagger named Johnny. Watch it...I promise you'll be inspired!! It made me tear up a bit the first time I saw it (but I'm a "G" LOL). Enjoy!!

Finding Joy
Often times life can throw us curve balls. Everything seems to be going great one minute then something happens that changes your outlook on life. When this happens, remember it's only temporary. No matter how painful the situation or how impossible it seems to get through, know you CAN and you WILL. Never accept defeat...

It's getting HOT!!!
It's getting hotter outside now that the weather has stopped flip flopping *crossing fingers* which means you'll be using your HVAC unit regularly. We all know what that means...HIGH ENERGY BILLS :(
Here are a few tips to help keep those electricty bills to a minimum this summer:
Happy saving :)
Here are a few tips to help keep those electricty bills to a minimum this summer:
- Set your thermostat at 78 degrees or above. For each degree temperature above 78, you will use about 10% less energy (and vice versa for temperatures below 78)
- Use a programmable thermostat to help regulate tempertures within your home when you are away. If you don't have a programmable thermostat, increase the temperature while you are away and put it back down to your desired setting when you get back
- Check and change air filters in your return vents regularly (monthly or for 30 days of use)
- Make sure your duct work is properly sealed and free of tears
- Check your water heater year round. Leaks or malfunctions could cause water AND electricity/gas bills to increase
- Contact your local electric/gas company to see if they offer free home energy audits. These audits will help you understand and educate you about energy usage and habits specific to your home
- Have your HVAC unit serviced annually by a professional. This can help extend the life of your unit and ensure optimal efficiency
- When going out of town for vacations, set your water heater to vacation mode (for gas water heaters) or turn it off at the breaker (for electric water heaters). This will keep it from cycling on and off while you are away
Happy saving :)

Just Because It's Wednesday...
Often times we get comfortable with our love ones and without knowing it, we stop expressing our love and appreciation as much as we should. It's okay...we've all been guilty of this at some point.
Now that you've realized the issue, fix it ASAP.
You don't have to do anything drastic or expensive. After all, it's the little things that count and mean the most. One of my closest friends sent this to me a few years ago and it completely made my week!!
Here are some additional ideas:

Here are some additional ideas:
- Make or purchase a card that shows your appreciation or simply tells them how much you love them
- Cook dinner. Listen intently to what happened in their day...that'll make a world of difference
- Purchase their favorite candy and place it where you know they'll find it. Be sure to include a cute note saying, "Since you make my day everyday, I'm hoping this will return the favor" or something to that affect
- Make a mixed CD with songs that describe how you feel. Put it in their car's CD player so that it'll begin playing when they get into the vehicle

Extreme Couponing (The LC Edition)
Sooooo I know I'm not the only one who watched an episode of Extreme Couponing and thought the people on there had too much time on their hands. To constantly cut coupons, stalk weekly circulars for sales, and drive from store to store to find the best deals is as I say...."doing the most."
Guess what?!?! I found an easier way!! :)
Guess what?!?! I found an easier way!! :)
There's a website called Southern Savers that does all the craziness for you! The website posts the latest and greatest deals for various stores. Under each post, there are printable coupons that corresponds to the item listed in the store's weekly circular.
In addition, Southern Savers posts deals offered by various online websites and businesses. It's a pretty neat tool if you don't have time to research money saving deals in your area. Happy saving :)

It's Monday!!!
Today is the first Monday of the new year! Chances are you didn't wake up excited this morning, because although it's the first Monday it's still the World Famous Oh So Dreaded Monday. You'll probably get to work, watch the clock, reminisce on how great this past weekend went, and wish it were the weekend again. No worries...I used to do the exact same thing. I lived for the weekends!!!
But then I started surrounding myself with amazing people who lived for everyday. We make it a point to make plans during the week that are fun enough to give us something to look forward to throughout the day. Being surrounded by loving, positive, optimistic people help make each day worth living. So I challenge you to do the same. Plan outings, dinner dates, game nights, etc. with the people you love to help you live for everyday...not just the weekend. It'll make your days that much brighter. After all, tomorrow isn't promised.
Happy Monday :)
